Hard Candy

Shirley_2

Does Madonna's spread eagle pose on her new album cover solidify her feminist status, or put women back 500 years? Discuss. (Personally, I wish she would come up with another trick.) Also, let me know what you think of her new album: sweet, or leaves a bitter aftertaste? Personally, I am diggin’ it so far. Especially, the beats on the latin-tinged “Spanish Lesson.”

I'm disappointed with the album (and its cover), honestly. I think (the single) "Music" may have been the peak of her career and now we're on the way down. I'm a decent Madonna fan (maybe 6 of her songs rated 5-star in my library) but besides 4 Minutes, the album sports no tracks that could ever hope to break 4 stars.

I was waiting for another great album like "Ray Of Light" but I guess I'll be disappointed.
Here's what I've written about that wonderful album:

Yeah. We get it.
Madonna's 50 and hot.
But, what does any of that have to do with the music?

There's something to be said about anyone willing to "represent" with a crotch shot, for better or worse. The very fact that she gets away with it is alarmingly impressive and I tip my hat to her tautness, sheer audacity, and balls. Refreshing to see a grown woman strike the pose that her acolytes only hint at. If you got it, and are inspired to, then absolutely, flaunt it. The cover shot is entirely contextual, I mean the album IS called "Hard Candy" afterall...
Definitely interested in hearing the album. Though she doesn't always succeed, at minimum her albums are always interesting, and she certainly isn't the type to do anything half-assed...
