Sub Pop 20: the Helio Sequence
The Helio Sequence just wrapped up a set of reverb-drenched rock that sounded big enough to fill stadiums. Outside on one of the Seattle-area's rare cloudless days, they fit the setting perfectly. Sometimes, rock just doesn't feel right in the sun, but their jams only enhanced the nearly euphoric feeling us PNW-ers get on the few days we can actually expose our elbows to the elements without freezing. The band set the bar high for the rest of the day, but I'm confident acts like Fleet Foxes, the Vaselines, Mudhoney, Iron and Wine, and Flight of the Conchords will continue to raise that bar even further as the day goes on. Expect more posts later.
