Get This Song Out of My Mind
What song is in your head right now?
If you're me, it's the complex composition and inexplicable hit song from Miami's Flo Rida. Entitled "Low,"
it chronicles how one woman catches the attention of her would-be
suitor like a siren of the deep, except she has a penchant for the
boots with the fur.
I've had a lot of time to think about this song since it's been stuck on repeat since I woke up yesterday. And this wasn't the first time I've had "Low" stuck in my head for long stretches of time. What is it about that bleepy synthesizer, ridiculous beat, '90s triplet-reliant rapping, and overall ringtone-ready sound that my brain just can't get enough of?
The Wikipedia has a lot of good information about this phenom and I've heard from the Sound Opinions podcast that you can rid yourself of this affliction by humming any of Oasis' big hits to yourself. The thinking is you need a hook even bigger and bolder than the one you're suffering from in order to be free. I've also heard that giving the song to someone else, effectively spreading the joy, works wonders.
So, please take this song from me. Free me from my mind jail. It's all I ask. --Gabi Knight

Aw, Ronaldo's got heart--he's made me a believer. And, I have to love how he's dressed like George Clinton!

After listening to Lollapalooza, Rogue Wave's "Publish My Love." Such a glorious song. Their best prior to "Lake Michigan."
