Who Needs Amps? We've Got A Tesla Coil!
I'm all for weird instruments and innovative technologies, which is why the moment I saw this, I knew I would be sharing it with all you lovely people as soon as I could.
This is a dude playing guitar through a Tesla coil. THROUGH A TESLA COIL.
No amp, no speaker--it's the sparks that are actually creating the (very loud) noise.
Check it out:
Surprisingly enough, this isn't the first time a Tesla coil has been used to make music. Witness this amazing performance of the Super Mario Brothers theme song as played by two computer-controlled Tesla coils:
Again, no amp, no speaker. Tesla coils create a lot of noise when they're on, and somehow, some insane genius has found a way to harness the noise they create, manipulate it, and turn it into art. I'm just waiting for the day when some adventurous metal band decides to risk their lives and take their brutality to the next level by using these instead of amps. If you hear about that happening, let me know.

Shocking, now what applications can one think of to use this other than music? If we could only create a means to send this noise to telemarketers over the phone, then I would be interested. lol
