Top 10 of the Decade According to Me: Ryan Trager
Okay... I know that 2010 is still 9 months away, but it's never too soon to start thinking about that all-important list of lists: Best of the Decade. Whether you choose 10 or 50 or 100 of your most-beloved records, looking back on the music that most affected you during this first--and somehow still unnamed--decade of the millenium is bound to both trigger a flood of memories and to provide a window into the evolution of your own musical taste. I will probably tweak my own list endlessly, but I thought I'd kick off the conversation by posting a first draft of my picks. Post your own picks in the comments section below.
1) Radiohead - In Rainbows
2) Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
3) The White Stripes - White Blood Cells
4) The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots
5) Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes
6) Radiohead - Kid A
7) Broken Social Scene - You Forgot it in People
8) The Strokes - Is This It
9) Cat Power - You Are Free
10) Iron & Wine - Our Endless Numbered Days

Definitely a good list - I'd add Funeral (Arcade Fire) to the top ten for sure, and I'd probably try to add Illinois (Sufjan Stevens) in there somewhere. Not sure who I'd kick off your list to make room, though!

Wait a minute. Radiohead twice, no Destroyer, and absolutely no hip-hop whatsoever? I declare this list suspect.
Iggy Pot: Good call on the OOIOO!

I think it's quite a good list actually :) I know 8 of those records and all of them are very good indeed. And sure, albums by Bjork and Joanna Newsom and MIA and PJ Harvey would enter my thinking when compiling such a list, but he surely shouldn't promote any that don't genuinely make his personal Top 10 just to keep a quota up? I mean, I could say there's no hip-hop or dance or punk there, etc etc, but you can't represent everyone in ten places.

Hmmm, aren't you a bit skimpy on women, here? I mean, everybody has their opinions, but you know, you're supposed to be kind of a music expert...?

Wow, you've managed to completely lose me. This is a terrible list, i'm sorry. Radiohead in it more than once? Really? Wow, what a lousy list.
