I've recently happened upon what appears to be a decades-spanning rock 'n' roll fashion triumvirate and thought I'd throw the photo evidence out to Chordstrike readers for a vote. Who do you think wore this look best? Was it eccentric, piano-man Elton John, “satiric songwriter” Warren Zevon, or ukulele-toting indie rocker Dent May? You be the judge.

Mr. Zevon, of course. He used to say contacts made him look too much like Nick Nolte and then his songs would lose their ironic texture.

Warren Zevon is rose colored and irony free in the fashion sense--I would say the same about John Denver in a similar quiz.

The only one who strikes me as wearing the specs for no other reason than pure necessity is the late, great, criminally underrated Mr. Zevon. He wins my vote for being honest.
