Adam Lambert Releases Album Art

Now, I'm not the biggest Idol fan, but I saw this just-released album cover for Adam Lambert's upcoming release, For Your Entertainment, and it kinda blew me away. I'm really not sure what to make of it--I feel simultaneously drawn to it and vaguely horrified:

Gay or whatever. A striking portrait illustration. [this from a former graphic designer] I think he's 'beautiful'! [and I DID enjoy his performance style on American Idol] Hey, more power to him if the cover attracts buyers.

WTF? This would work if it were Bowie. As it is it just makes me laugh. I have no idea who this guy is, but I would be embarrassed if I were him. It is a guy, right?
