The Worst Lyric of 2009
For my money, this dubious honor belongs to Five For Fighting for the first song on their new album Slice (also called "Slice"). Behold:
"Have you ready my blog today/300 million little USAs"
Honestly, I've never really liked this band, but, BARF! Really? Really?? You're going there?
Everything about this lyric makes me cringe. I dare you to tell me I'm wrong--I'd love to hear what you think is the worst lyric of 2009. Please share the not-so-poetic lines that made you hate music this year in the comments.

I can't for the life of me understand how anyone could find the lyrics to "Adeste Fideles" offensive. Bob Dylan's rendition of them might be, um, on the unsuccessful side, but the lyrics themselves are glorious.

I agree with RumerMills, com on the worst song of the year being Beyonce and Lady Gaga's videophone.

Two from the *same song*
"we went to the social development dance
the whiskey went down easily
you kissed the best you had enormous breasts"
"tried to find out what had happened to you
i Googled you in quotes got no results"
- Pete Yorn, 'Social Development Dance'

Adeste fideles,
laeti triumphantes,
Venite, venite in Bethlehem!
Natum videte,
Regem angelorum
Venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Cantet nunc Io!
chorus angelorum;
Cantet nunc aula caelestium
Gloria, gloria,
in excelsis Deo
Venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus,
Venite adoremus
Dominum.
Bob Dylan, "O' Come All Ye Faithful"

Bri, agreed. This is a terrible lyric. When I first heard it, the first thing that came to my mind was that this was probably actually written and recorded in 2008, and 3008 sounds an awful lot like that, and I'm sure she thought she was sounding really "now" writing it. To my ears, it sounded like the past instead of the future.

"I'm so 3008 /
You so 2000 and late /
I got that boom, boom, boom /
That future boom, boom, boom"
-Black Eyed Peas, "Boom Boom Pow"
Ugh. How many times can you say "boom"? And 3008 is a little too far in the future to be believable.

Moving my hips like yeah,"

I don't know about 2009, but the worst in the last few years for me was Sheryl Crow saying "I don't have digital, I don't have diddly squat."

"I said shoosh girl, shut your lips. Do the Helen Keller and talk with your hips."
Offensive on so many levels. Yet that one made it onto mainstream radio. Makes me wonder if my generation is seriously a joke.
